Accessibility

The photographs below explore how disabled supporters experience accessibility across different parts of their matchday. This theme explores how fans are able to enter, move through and use football stadia in a way that allows them to take part on equal terms. Participants showed that accessible stadium facilities were needed to allow them to even attend live matches, with one participant explaining that they were not able to watch their side live for a number of years due to poor facilities. I missed football for about 7 years […] the club eventually built a ramp, a big ramp for wheelchair accessibility.” Across this theme, fans showed that access can vary significantly between clubs, making clear information and consistent provision essential.
